Basic Parallel

Referred to by many “Medium Parallel” or "Intermediate Parallel" this is a good goal for anyone wishing to cruise a variety of slopes from easy green runs to steeper blue runs... and even groomed black runs (if such a thing exists;).

Demonstration Objectives:

  • Keep skis parallel through entire turn.
  • Maintain a round turn shape through early grip.
  • Maintain consistent speed (adjusting to the slopes pitch).
  • Maintain rhythm and linking of turns from one arc to the next.
  • Maintain a medium size corridor.
Still working towards parallel? Head back to our novice skier progression to learn how to progress out of that wedge...

Sweet demo! Wish I’d found this one back in Feb/March.

Couple of questions:
1. What’s the pitch like? It looks relatively mild but then everything looks mild on camera.
2. This is posted on Vimeo? Do you have a vimeo channel with other vids? (Looked under ‘Section 8’ and ‘Science Friction’ and ‘Skier Lab’ but found nothing.

Can you post a similar video, with a list of skiing objectives, for “advanced parallel”? Perhaps also for (advanced) short-radius turns?
